Email setup
Set up SwishEmail in your favourite email app.
Connect your @swish.email mailbox to Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, Thunderbird, Android mail apps, or any client that supports IMAP and SMTP.
You can also find these server settings inside Webmail by opening the Settings page.
Universal settings
Use these settings in most email apps.
Your username is your full SwishEmail address, such as yourname@swish.email. These same details are also available from the Settings page inside Webmail.
Choose your app
Step-by-step setup guides.
The exact wording may vary slightly between app versions, but the server settings stay the same.
Microsoft Outlook
Open Outlook, choose Add Account, enter your SwishEmail address, select IMAP, then enter the incoming and outgoing server settings above.
Apple Mail
Go to Mail accounts, choose Other Mail Account, enter your name, full email address, and password, then use IMAP with SSL/TLS enabled.
Gmail
In Gmail settings, add another email account using IMAP. Use your full SwishEmail address as the username and the SwishEmail IMAP/SMTP settings.
Thunderbird
Add a mail account, choose manual configuration, then enter IMAP port 993 with SSL/TLS and SMTP port 587 with STARTTLS.
Android mail apps
Add a new email account, choose IMAP, then enter the incoming and outgoing settings shown above.
Other email clients
Any modern email app that supports IMAP and SMTP should work with SwishEmail using the universal settings.
Troubleshooting
If setup does not work, check these first.
Most setup issues are caused by using only the username instead of the full email address, selecting the wrong security type, or using the wrong SMTP port.
Common fixes
- Use your full email address as the username.
- Use IMAP port 993 with SSL/TLS.
- Use SMTP port 587 with STARTTLS.
- Make sure SMTP authentication is enabled.
- Check that your mailbox password is correct.
- Compare your app settings with the server settings shown in Webmail.
